She ordered her brother to take Sharmila to the cremation yard to perform sari and her father with him. Both came to the graveyard. When they came, Ganapathikal performed the last rites by performing a small home on his chest and then making the fire lit by him from the Agni he took from the Agnihotri pot of his family. Then he stared there and came to know that this was happening and Vadhambal's brother was pushing her to fire.

She resisted as much as she could. She shouted the names of gods, but the gods became deaf here. The people who saw became blind when they saw, but their brother, who should have shouted at this, opened his mouth and said to stop. He took his sister from him and said, "This marriage was over when your sister shouted at my father."

Sastrigal/Ganapathikal-Priesthood or Bhramins had a hierarchy based on how much they had studied and researched the Vedas. Ganapthikal is the highest compared to Sastrigal, where Sastrigal is a normal priest.

Bragacharanam./Vathima -  Bhramins also had a sub-caste based on their job on the land. People who performed rituals to god in the temple are said to be the least called Kurkukal, followed by Bragacharanam, who are people who used to perform rituals for all the family, while the Vadama and Vathima are said to be the royal priests.
