Speaking Mute - 013 - "Invisible Strings"
Have you ever felt like this person could have been avoided or that they were never meant to last this long? Perhaps you have strong negative feelings towards them or even developed feelings of love. It's like an invisible string that connects us. This is what I call 'The Speaking Mute' - an oxymoronic expression of my thoughts.
Recently, I had the chance to see someone I was quite interested in, but things didn't go as planned and it had to end with a "No". However, despite my intentions to avoid seeing them again, I keep running into them at college. Even though they are not in my department, we somehow randomly meet every time. At first, we tried to handle it cool, but now it has become awkward. I could have talked to them, but I decided to let them have their peace.
On the other hand, some people come into our lives seemingly for no reason but end up becoming an important part of it. I met someone who was initially shy and nervous to talk, but now we can talk for endless hours and share our problems. Despite being from different colleges, the memes, movies, and shared experiences between us are so much that it feels like we are best friends. We hang out together, and yet this string still connects us.
It's apparent that we meet many people who seem to be connected by a string but end up leaving us. I talked to someone who would randomly come to me with a problem, and out of kindness, I would listen and offer advice. But things changed in one night due to a misunderstanding, and now we barely talk. I hardly remember them now, but it's clear that the person who was once attached by a string is now like a comet that moves away from the sun.
So, what are these strings? Are they mythical or simply a belief we hold? I would say they are different. It could be that both individuals are meant to have an impact on each other's lives. It's like a mutual chaos theory, where the interactions between two people are recalculated and happen again and again. It's like a programmed game, where certain events are destined to occur repeatedly. So, what is the solution if we want to stay away from people we dislike or those who won't last?
Perhaps it's just part of this whole process. As the strings connect us all, we become interlocked, and sometimes a few threads tear. Maybe those who don't last long in our lives are simply people with threads that are meant to be torn.
